Yotel is the new kid on the block at the busy tip of Orchard Road right next to popular malls. Checking in to this cool kid promises to be an experience as the hotel deploy hotels to serve it's customers. Watch its promo video on here.
Another hidden gem tucked at the edge of Orchard shopping capitol of Singapore, The Quincy Hotel by Far East Hospitality offers the benefits and comfort of club privileges without the hefty price tag! Armed with an infinity pool and well-equipped gym, the hotel offers all-day light refreshments and evening cocktails in addition to the free in-room mini bar. Ideal for staycationers as well as travelers who would like some privacy after a busy day of shopping. Complimentary parking is available for the hotel stay.
If history is not really your thing and you are just here for a business trip but prefer to enjoy the best view of Singapore, we recommend the Marina Bay Sands. The skypark is a marvel with trees and plants within the boat structure that lie at the top of the three columns of hotel rooms. Hotel guests go to this deck to enjoy the view of the Singapore skyline at the infinity pool for free while others pay a fee just to take the escalator up to the top for a restricted view at the head of the 'boat'. Another way to get to the top is really to go to the bar for drinks! This is definitely more worth it than paying and getting nothing more than a view especially in the hot sun. If you are hotel guest, don't forget there are two sides to the view. Enjoy the horizon by looking outwards (in addition to inwards for the view of the most parts of Singapore). You might just catch the Indonesian islands on a clear day. To truly enjoy Singapore River, one of the best memories can be created at
The Fullerton Hotel.
The grand old dame was restored with state of the art know-how as a heritage site of the General Post Office during colonial days. Book the room with breakfast and you can extend your memories to a good selection of buffet spread for breakfast while you watch the rays of the morning sunrise fall on the majestic buildings along the river that Lee Kuan Yew cleaned up to become a massive water reserve. The location of the hotel makes it an ideal place for tourist who enjoy heritage trails as the various historic sites (like Asian Civilisation Museum, Parliament House, Old Parliament House, Sir Stanford Raffles' landing site, Fort Canning, Hill Street Fire Station, Armenian Church, St Andrew's Cathedral, CHIJMes, Padang, National Gallery) and sculptures line the edge of the river. Take a walk in the early cool mornings and relaxing evenings from The Fullerton to the Esplanade as well as the Float at Marina Bay. Upstream walk will bring you to Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay where you can check out some night entertainment over a drink. We prefer and strongly recommend Clarke Quay for the spread of night spots ranging from soothing mando-pop sounds to hard core rock.
